March 8 Rep Training Update

While we were hoping to start training indoors, the Georgetown Soccer Club has recently received further guidance from Public Health and the Town regarding the capacity limits for indoor facilities.  Public Health has advised that facilities are defined based upon their municipal address, not the number of rooms within a building.  This would mean a maximum of 10 people in the entire Acton facility, which would include 2 Acton staff members, the field marshal, the coaching staff and managers, as well as the players.  This results in a maximum of 5-6 players per time slot, which drastically limits our ability to provide practice times for all players.

Based upon this guidance the GSC will not be able to return to training indoors and instead will focus efforts on returning to training outdoors.  We are aware that there may be other soccer clubs who are not following these guidelines, however we have put the health and safety of our players and community as the priority.  Additionally, the Town has advised that Bylaw Enforcement will be completing spot checks and any practicing taking place in contravention of COVID protocols will result in a loss of all permits and could potentially affect our 2021 season.

We will continue to work with the Town and Public Health to return to training in a safe environment and are looking to be back on the field outdoors in late March/early April when the weather permits. We are also working with the Town to book additional field time at CTK to allow our teams additional practice times when we are able to return outdoors.

We will be sending out additional information regarding player registration and next steps.  We look forward to what we anticipate will be an early Spring.  We are as excited as you to return to soccer as soon as possible and to see everyone on the field!
