May 14 GSC Update

GSC Community,

As we get closer to what would normally be opening day for house league and first games of the season for our rep teams, I wanted to provide an update on the current status of the 2020 season. Most importantly, I would like to pass along that the GSC staff and board of directors have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming season and developing plans for possible return to play dates. We have been working with our partners and governing bodies to develop return to play strategies that are focused on allowing our players to return to the field in a safe and healthy environment.

Recently, Ontario Soccer has announced that all in-person soccer events and activities for the month of June have been cancelled or postponed, this would include our opening day and a portion of the 2020 outdoor season:
What does this mean for the outdoor House League schedule?
  • There will be no soccer related activities until beginning of July, at the earliest.  This includes no Opening Day activities in May.
  • The Club is considering options to provide a similar length of schedule including alternatives to Opening Day activities.
  • Announcements regarding coaches and teams will only be made once a start date is determined.
I would also like to remind players that they can still sign up for the outdoor 2020 season by following the links on our website. If you use the "Office Payment" option, you will not be required to pay your fee until shortly before the season starts (we will communicate payment deadlines to all those who choose this option once more information is available).

I encourage you to stay connected with the GSC community through our social media accounts where we will be posting updates along with training ideas and fun videos!
We hope that you are all staying safe and healthy and look forward to seeing you all back at the field when we are able to resume soccer activities.
