Apr 8 - GSC COVID Update
As you are all aware, Ontario Soccer made the difficult but right decision on March 12th, 2020 to suspend all sanctioned soccer events and activities in the province indefinitely. Since then we all have been social distancing to ensure the health and safety our players, coaches, match officials, other volunteers and staff. However, the GSC Board has continued to operate and we had our first ever online meeting last week.
Like all of you, we are not sure what the 2020 soccer season is going to look like but we are doing our best to be prepared for a potential return to play. To that effect, we have setup a strategic committee to look at various scenarios and continue to meet regularly as the situation develops.
At this time we are not cancelling any of our outdoor programs. In fact, if you are thinking about signing up for one of our summer programs, we would still encourage you to do so to allow us to better plan the resources we may need. We understand that the COVID-19 situation has caused financial hardships for many so we would recommend that if you are going to register you select the "Office Payment" option during registration. If you register from today on-wards and choose "Office Payment" you will not be required to pay your fee until shortly before the season starts (we will communicate payment deadlines to all those who choose this option once more information is available).
We are working closely with our partners and governing bodies to determine the best next steps to ensure all participants can have a safe and healthy return to soccer. Currently, Ontario Soccer has mandated that all soccer activities are cancelled for the month of May and we will update you as further information becomes available.
We strongly encourage you to stay connected with the Georgetown soccer community through the GSC website and social media. We will be posting any updates to both our website and social media and are continuing to provide a forum for players and families to connect through our social media to share training ideas and fun ways to stay active. In fact, our coaches have already started posting drills and challenges to help keep your skills sharp! Make sure you like and follow our pages to keep up to date with all of our posts.

We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you all back at the soccer field when we are able to resume soccer activities.
Stay positive, safe and healthy,
